I have been an elementary school teacher for 6 years and have taught 2 years at Sikes Elementary. I am a graduate with a Masters in Education degree from Warner University and Bachelor of Science in Educational Studies from Bethune Cookman College. I am certified in Exceptional Student Education (ESE), Pre-k through 3rd grade, English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL), CPR, CPI, and First- Aid. I am a mom of a Sophomore student at University of Florida (go Gators). I enjoy teaching elementary students very much and believe that learning is for all.
I am a firm believer that in order to have a successful classroom with lots of learning there has to be a positive safe atmosphere for all students. Therefore, I insist that all of my students follow the classroom discipline system that I will be putting in place on the first day. Below you will see an explanation of how I expect each student to behave in class at all times and what the consequences will be if he/she cannot follow them at anytime.
Class Expectations:
- We Listen to each other
- Hands are for helping not hurting
- We are responsible for what we say and do
- Verbal Warning
- Safe place choice station
- Office and phone call home
Sincerely,
Ms. Nelson
